Pune: Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq: SNPS), the leader in silicon to systems design solutions, in collaboration with COEP Technological University and CADFEM India, has set up the Ansys Digital Twin & Multiphysics Lab at the COEP campus during the 2026 Symposium. The important academic engagement took place with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard. The collaboration aims to bridge the academia and industry gap by equipping students, researchers and faculty with access to advanced engineering simulation technologies that are increasingly shaping product innovation across industries. The collaboration is set to accelerate research, foster innovation, and develop industry-ready engineering talent.
Speaking about the collaboration, Gilles Eggenspieler, Director, Global Academic Program, Synopsys, said: “Engineering is becoming increasingly software-defined. Simulation and digital twin technologies are now central to how future products are designed and validated. Through this collaboration with COEP, Synopsys is investing in the next generation of engineers and providing them with access to industry-leading simulation technologies, hands-on learning opportunities and exposure to real-world engineering workflows. This strengthening of academia and industry collaboration is vital to prepare students for the evolving demands of global engineering and innovation.”
As part of the collaboration, the new laboratory will provide access to Ansys digital twin and advanced multiphysics simulation software for academic learning and non-commercial research. Students and faculty will also benefit from certification programmes, technical workshops, mentoring, faculty development initiatives and collaborative research opportunities designed to enhance practical engineering skills and prepare graduates for emerging industry requirements.
Prof. Sunil Bhirud, Vice Chancellor, COEP Technological University, said while speaking about the partnership, “COEP Technological University is a strong believer of combining academic excellence and industry engagement. This collaboration with Synopsys will considerably strengthen our research and learning ecosystem. The industries of tomorrow require innovation, interdisciplinary research and practical engineering skills and the new laboratory and associated academic initiatives will help nurture them.”
About the Collaboration
The collaboration is a shared commitment to strengthening engineering education, research and industry engagement through advanced simulation technologies. COEP Technological University’s 172+years legacy of academic excellence, Synopsys’ global leadership in engineering simulation, and CADFEM India’s expertise in technical enablement will be leveraged to provide students, researchers and faculty with hands-on exposure to digital twin and advanced multiphysics technologies, while creating opportunities for experiential learning, interdisciplinary research and industry collaboration.
Students and faculty will also benefit from Ansys Innovation Space and physics-based simulation courses, certification opportunities for up to 100 students, expert lectures, technical workshops, Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), mentoring and industry interactions. The partnership will further support collaborative research projects, technical publications, outreach initiatives, internships and coursework using Ansys simulation learning resources, along with technical enablement from CADFEM India.
The next generation of engineers will be equipped with practical skills that are increasingly critical across sectors including aerospace, automotive, electronics, manufacturing, biomedical engineering and industrial systems.
