Traditions in a Handshake: Ryan Bavdhan’s Unique Cultural Learning Initiative

Pune: Ryan International Academy, Bavdhan, organised an interactive cultural learning activity for Mont 3 and Grade 1 students titled “Traditions in a Handshake – A Study of Greetings & Cultures in India, France, and Germany.” The initiative aimed to introduce young learners to global greeting traditions while nurturing respect for cultural diversity. 

Through engaging activities such as songs, storytelling, and hands-on exercises, students learned about India’s “Namaste,” France’s “La Bise,” and Germany’s “Guten Tag.” The session also included a fun Globe Hunt, where children matched national flags with greetings and identified countries and their capitals, helping build early cultural and geographical awareness in an enjoyable way. 

The activity concluded with a Student-Led Conference and Parent-Teacher Meeting, where parents witnessed their children’s confidence, creativity, and cultural understanding. 

Speaking on the initiative, Ms Ruchi Masih, Principal, Ryan International Academy Bavdhan, stressed on the fact that this activity symbolizes the Ryan vision of delivering education that broadens perspectives and prepares students to thrive in a global world. This kind of awareness begins at a very young age 

Through this age-appropriate initiative like “Traditions in a Handshake,” Ryan International Academy continues to reinforce its commitment to holistic education, successfully helped its youngest students explore the world beyond their classroom while celebrating diversity, global connections, and the joy of learning.
